I created this artwork because I have a love for most things science fiction and to become more familiar with Mudbox and Zbrush. I created a low poly base mesh in Maya then detailed each piece in Mudbox, took that model in zbrush for posing with the transpose tool and other minor model adjustment. I exported that model back into Maya where I created shaders, used dynamics, paint effects hair, applied textures created in photoshop, and re-projected them onto the model. The scene is rendered in Mental Ray, it started out as a realistic scene but changed to a more stylized look inspired by Russian constructivism and old Coca-Cola ads (the ones with santa in them.) I learned a lot while creating this piece.
Special Thanks to Lilly G. for helping with the Russian translation.

A 3d model of Mega Man rendered in Mental Ray.
After working on Dead Space (M-rated) I wanted to do something cute and toy like. I modeled the blue bomber using polygons, switching between smooth preview and low poly versions in Maya 2008. After the model was complete I created a simple rig, posed him, and set up the lights. The image is a render from Mental ray.
For lighting I set up a sun and final gather along with an hdr probe image for the reflection and lighting information.
Olga in Arms

An homage to one of my favorite video game characters, Olga Gurlukovich from MGS2: Sons of Liberty. It was made using Maya, Syflex for the flag , and Turtle for Maya as the render. Photoshop was used for the background. I was going after a feeling of being on a hazy, war torn field on an overcast day.
